This just seems wrong

Eddie Murphy is apparently set to play The Riddler in the next Batman movie.

It just sounds like such a monumental fuck up. Then again, Christopher Nolan seems like a clever guy - perhaps there's something in it I'm not seeing. I didn't like the idea of Ledger as The Joker and that turned out well.

Also, quotes from Nolan to the effect of "Robin would be in a crib somewhere during 'Batman Begins' and 'Dark Knight'" are contradicted somewhat by the fact that Shia LeBeouf is set to play Robin. I'm not sure about that choice, either.

Hmmm... it's a #3 Batman movie which is the first in its series to star Robin and The Riddler. Where have I seen this go horribly wrong before?

If I wish for it really hard I wonder if Nolan will make a no-gimmicks Penguin the new Gotham mob boss?

The source is an unamed "insider" as reported in 'The Sun' newspaper in the UK.

Whilst I'll admit they've been pretty spot-on with their Doctor Who rumours the last couple of years, certainly a grain of salt is definitely required with regards to accuracy in their reporting.

But on the other hand, Eddie Murphy is an Academy Award nominee.

On a third hand, there's this reported denial from a different unamed insider.

Hell, the second insider could be a cover for the leak by the first insider. Oooh. Or maybe its a rumour started by Murphy himself to raise his profile and put the idea into Nolan's head!

I was the same when I heard Heath Ledger was going to play the Joker, so I am going to trust him with the Eddie Murphy choice. I think Shia LeBeouf would be a fantastic Robin.

Surely The Riddler is the guy who worked out Batman's identity in The Dark Knight. Wasn't his name E. Nigma as well? Or was it Mr. E..the wiki page doesn't turn up anything on this subject.

Eddie Murphy and Shia LaBeouf are both in my top 10 LEAST liked actors, so I am very glad this report seems to be complete BS.
