Lost, and why Channel 7 are stupid

So, I like Lost. I watch it each week. This latest episode was very frustrating, though. There wasn't anything wrong with the ep itself, but with Channel 7's advertising of it.
So, the episode basically consists of Juliette working to earn the trust of the survivors, after she's apparently been kicked out of the Others' little posse. She argues, makes speeches, eventually plays a part in saving Claire's life and finally seems to start settling in amongst the group. Then, in the last two minutes, we're treated to a little flashback of her speaking with Ben (leader of The Others) about "the plan" - how she'll earn their trust and infiltrate the group. It all finishes with Ben's ominous statement of "See you in a week."
It's a plot-twist. Not a particularly surprising one, but a plot-twist regardless. Here's where I talk about Channel 7 being stupid.
The advertising for that episode, which has been running all week (including, I'm pretty sure, the "next week on Lost" segment at the end of last week's episode) features this discussion, almost in its entirety, played over both the footage from the scene in question, as well as a montage of other clips from the episode. This ad outlines the plot-twist in great detail, and doesn't really do much else. From the very beginning of the episode, I knew exactly what was going to happen.
Way to go 7. Whoever does your promos if pretty fucking stupid.

Date: 2007-06-15 08:53 am (UTC)In fact I could probably say that channel 7's mellodramatic promos were probably what made me stop watching Lost early on.

Date: 2007-06-15 10:49 am (UTC)Oh God how I hate it when they do that. Like you get a five second dream sequence where two characters kiss, or something like that, and they make that look like the plot of the entire episode. Channel 10 is equally bad with those.
