New Newsom
Oct. 24th, 2006 04:39 pmSo, I finally got to listen to Ys, the new Joanna Newsom album. It hasn't come out yet, but I'll be buying it the day it hits the shelves.
This is quite simply one of the most incredible albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I've gone through it three and a half times at work today, and every listen reveals a little bit more brilliance than the last. If this doesn't end up being my #1 album of the year, then you can expect that whatever does get number one must be some sort of super-collaboration between Jeff Mangum, Elvis Presley's ghost and God. Or something.
When describing it, I can't really think of a better word than "magical." I know that's a giant cliche, but this album really is magical. I'm completely transfixed by it. I'm looking forward to writing a proper, full review as soon as I get through a few more listens.
